Pioneers in the future of food wanted

Through the years the ProVeg Incubator has worked with over 45 startups from all around the world. Together, they have raised more than €22 million euros and launched over 40 products. ProVeg Incubator is now calling for innovative startups to step up to the plate and help shape the future of food, by applying to join its global accelerator programme. Pioneering plant-based, cultured, and food-tech companies that are developing alternatives to animal-based products and ingredients can apply now to join the Incubator’s upcoming cohort of startups. It is important that the startups the ProVeg Incubator supports are aligned with our mission of reducing global animal consumption. The products or services that they offer should therefore replace conventional animal-based foods with innovative products, ingredients, and solutions. ProVeg Incubator is looking for a strong founding team, innovations that are impactful and scalable, and companies that are defensible – meaning that they can protect their products and concepts from the competition. The deadline for applications is Sunday, 7 February 2021, with the programme planned to kick off in April. Interested founders should apply by going to Startups that are accepted to the Incubator will be supported with a tailor-made accelerator programme, funding of up to €200,000, one-on-one expert mentoring, and access to the Incubator’s extensive networks of industry contacts.

Barilla enters into the delivery of fresh pasta and thanks to Blu1877 buys Pasta Evangelists

Reinforcing its presence in the UK Barilla buys, through the contact created by Blu1877, the majority of Pasta Evangelists, an English premium brand specialized in the digital production and distribution of fresh pasta and high quality sauces. Since 2016, Pasta Evangelists has been specialized in the delivery of fresh pasta boxes throughout the UK. Thus offering its its inhabitants the possibility to prepare “five-star” dishes in just five minutes, by using only the freshest ingredients and where possible, Italian ones. Pasta Evangelists, a digital brand in its DNA, is today the main reference point for high quality fresh pasta and sauces in the UK. During the year of the sanitary emergency, Pasta Evangelists has experienced a sale increase over 300%, with more than 1 million of pasta portions sold, compared to the 200 of 2016, year of its launch.

Good Food Makers is a unique opportunity for food and agtech innovators to collaborate with BLU1877, Barilla’s venture arm. Companies selected for the flexible, primarily-remote, 8-week program will have the opportunity to collaborate one-on-one with Barilla’s team to solve immediate business challenges. Applications are now open for companies looking to scale their solutions or conduct pilot projects in Kids' Snacking, Alternative Distribution Channels, Traceability Systems, and Regenerative Agriculture.
